ENGAGEMENTS TO ACHIEVE $50B MILESTONE

MA, August 17, 2001 — PROFORMANT, Inc. announced
today that completed engagements-to-date have addressed in
excess of $50B of aggregate biomedical industry equity value.
"The key metric with which we have tracked
the significance of our consulting activities is equity value
addressed," said Joseph Kozikowski, M.D., Chairman and
Managing Partner of PROFORMANT. "With the recent
completion of a recent major strategic engagement, the aggregate
equity value addressed by our engagements since our firm began
operations in 1994 now exceeds $50B, " he said.

to work on such an important and challenging variety of business
situations, and I salute the team that has achieved this milestone
with me, one mission at a time," said Dr. Kozikowski.
Equity value addressed is tracked by calculating
the amount of a companies" market capitalization at the
time of engagement completion that has been directly addressed
by the engagement. For example, for engagements that
addressed the commercialization of a companies" lead
products", sector-appropriate multiples of products"
discounted earnings contributions have been employed.
"Pharmaceutical and biotech mergers are
where we really picked up some numbers, and we"ve worked
on a few," said Dr. Kozikowski. "Next comes
acquisitions, where even after the typical post-announcement
stock drop, the equity value addressed could still hit ten
figures. Building out biopharmaceutical pipelines and
putting plans on multi-product platform technologies have
also lifted the numbers, so long as the companies gained traction
in the equity markets," Dr. Kozikowski went on to say.
